OUT NOW!!

Stumble remix contest, revisited.

Apologies for the delay, been moving and a workin’ last few weeks, wanted to get this out earlier!

In this post im gonna link up all the winners and my faves and a lil rundown of why i like them so much.

Winner: Rob Darke Mix

Runner up: Homes

Rob Darke mix was neck and neck with the Homes remix, it was really hard for me choosing the better, both were great i think at being subtle but still bringing out the best elements of the vocals and all the synth and sample parts.

Another thing that i personally look for in a remix that i LOVE. I think both of these remixers did was writing their own melodies and adding them to the original structure. Kind of how on the Homes remix the melody just sort of runs away and gets a little Jazzy towards 1m:35s

2nd Runner up: Vandal Squad

This one is great, classy and good use of the percussive samples, great build and drop. Best “wobble” rendition of this tune.

My personal faves:

Kent Rockafeller Remix

Great use of vocal dubs and the play on the opening melody. Not my particular style to play out, but i definitely appreciate the overall sound and “vibe” of this mix.

Bardeenz Remix

Love that this track is holding back a bit and comes at the structure in a “dutchy” way but not full on dutch house annoying “wannananana” kind of way. The use of the organ stab to drive the drop is really smart, simple but still groovy and catchy.

Macaraoni & Steez Remix

I’m a bit on the fence w/ the aggro dubstep styles, but i can definitely appreciate its place on the floor and in the vibe of a night. I like this one mainly becuase it hits hard and has all of those talking bass sounds that the kids go crazy for these days. But the arrangement of the samples, the little blips and blops and that doubletime 32th note arp used in a really nice way to fill the gaps. Great use of the vocal as a percussive element of the tune complementing the groove. I think this is a great example of a tune being “hard” but not too hard to scare people away, still has a nice melody you can flow with.

Andy P Remix

Nice and percussive rendition, reminds me of older breakbeat hardcore styles mixed in with the newer percussive tribal stuff.

Mare! Remix

Love this one because it’s nice and spooky and ambient. I dig the m83-like cinematic style with the layered ambiance. I particuarly love around 1m:27s when that melody comes in, then the extra counter swing percussion bit @ 2m.14s. I love me some reverb-ed out ass creepy music!

Dime and Dogs

Really tight production, great drop and drums. This one of those beats you can definitely get crazy stupid dumdum beats and headbang to this.

Another fave was the Dubzilla remix, can’t find it online, but il post it possibly in a pt2!

Johnny Love

Really happy with the way this one came out!

Il post the release date once i know.
